Terms of Service

The service

Zova is a media companion that helps you track what you watch and decide what to watch next across streaming services. Features include library tracking, personalized recommendations, Ask Zova, notifications, optional social/pair features, and data import from other apps. Features may change, break, or be retired as we develop the product.

Accounts

• You must provide accurate account information and keep credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13 where that is the minimum for online services).
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attack infrastructure, scrape at scale, or violate these terms.

Your content & library data

You retain rights to the personal library data you provide (watch history, ratings, lists, imports). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that data solely to operate and improve Zova for you (and, where you enable sharing, for the people you share with).

You can export and delete your data from Settings → Account. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Recommendations & AI

Recommendations, scores, explanations, and conversational answers are informational. They may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. Zova is not a substitute for your judgment about what is appropriate to watch. AI features may use third-party model providers; do not submit secrets or sensitive personal data you would not want processed that way.

Match percentages and similar indicators are only shown when we have a real basis for them. We aim not to fabricate certainty.

Third-party services & metadata

Catalog metadata, artwork, and availability come from third parties (including TMDB and availability providers). Streaming availability changes; links may fail. Watching a title may require a separate subscription or purchase with that provider. Their terms apply to those services.

Optional integrations (e.g. Trakt) are subject to those services' terms when you connect them.

Acceptable use

• No unlawful, harassing, or abusive conduct via social or messaging features.
• No reverse engineering for competitive scraping of non-public APIs at scale.
• No attempts to bypass rate limits, auth, or security controls.
• No uploading malware or content you do not have rights to process.
• Do not use automated means to exhaust AI or ranking endpoints in a way that harms other users or our infrastructure.

Intellectual property

Zova's branding, product design, software, and original content are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party titles, posters, and trademarks remain the property of their owners. You may not use our marks in a way that implies endorsement without permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, OR THAT RECOMMENDATIONS OR AVAILABILITY DATA WILL BE ACCURATE.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ZOVA AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using Zova and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, and limitations) will survive termination.

Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated terms where allowed by law.
